Setting: Around I7

No matter what kind of pressure Luffy felt, nothing could ever really erase his boyish smile. He'd seen and done things that would turn even the heartiest of men as white as a sheet, screaming in terror, pleading for their mothers, only to either laugh about it or start swinging his fists. He could walk away from it all covered in wounds, or not even really walk away at all; it all depended on the situation, but once the smoke had cleared, Luffy's smile was always right there to re-emerge again as good as new.
He was smiling that morning, but there was certainly something to be said about the pressure he felt that day. Having helped to win the day and send the monstrous creature known as 'Sin' off into the great beyond, he felt a certain sense of accomplishment as he lay there, as weak as a kitten, almost completely buried under the rock and rubble that came as a result of Sin's rampage. A massive bit of stone pressed into his face, compressing his pliant body and rubber expressions down until they stretched to an unrecognizable shape. Every inch of him felt like it was crumbling inside, strained to its absolute limits from exhausting himself to the deepest meaning of the word.
But he was still smiling.
Maybe his rescue call would be answered. He certainly hoped so; his stomach was still growling. Using the techniques that he had against Sin, his energy reserves had been depleted utterly. Without the proper medical treatment and something to fill his belly, Luffy wasn't going anywhere anytime soon.
Ahh, but he'd done good. While he had no idea yet about the continuing deterioration of the city, nor the ongoing kidnapping plots, he still felt proud of what he had done and how hard he had fought. Even better - he'd lived!
...well...for now.
