Setting: Joutenheim, just inside the city.

No matter how urgent the situation, the three-man Exorcist group had come to the conclusion that stopping for the night would be the logical solution. Kanda had been the one to argue that they could go on to the next town before nightfall, however. Deesha and Mari took that as an indication that Kanda wasn't tired, and therefore could take the first watch.

When Mari came to start his watch, Kanda had managed to stubbornly keep his eyes open through his turn. Just barely. With a grunt and a nod to the other Exorcist, Kanda headed off to the "camp" they'd erected, making a concious effort not to drag his feet. That was hardly respectable.

Later he would realize that he didn't really remember much between leaving his post and waking up the next morning.

And when he did, he awoke to nothing but the noon sun on one side of his face and the ground on the other. As he rose, grumbling as he brushed himself off, he found that the camp was gone, as if whisked away with the night. This woke him up quickly enough, getting him on his feet and alert within a few moments.

Kanda found it hard to believe that Deesha and Mari would have gone off without him, especially since he carried much of the weight in battle. There were no signs of a struggle in the area, not even any sign of the camp having been there at all. It was around this time that Kanda started to question where he was. Normally, one would hear sounds of forest wildlife at this time of the day. Kanda heard nothing but the soft sound of running water.

Doing a quick check of himself, he made sure that his belongings were still intact, most importantly: Mugen. With his katana firmly strapped to his back, Kanda headed off in the direction of the noise. His best bet was to follow the river or stream inland, until he could locate a landmark that would give him an idea as to his location. At this point, Kanda was fairly certain that he wouldn't be running into Deesha or Mari in the immediate area.

The river proved easy to find, and Kanda travelled on foot for a while until he caught something over the treeline, off in the distance. It was barely discernable, but it was a sign of civilization and so Kanda changed his course. It wasn't long before he came across a large crowd milling about in front of a large, ornate gate. Two large giants towered over the people, crossing their clubs to form an archway.

Unfamiliar, yes, but Kanda didn't have the time to sit around and weigh his options. Those options were few in number anyhow.

"Move aside," Kanda snapped, to the first few people blocking his way. No matter who they were, not many of them were doing much else besides shuffling about in confusion. Even if Kanda was equally uninformed, he had more need for urgency than most of these people anyways. If any of them were at all intelligent, they'd recognize the emblem of the Dark Religious Organization and step aside willingly.

Since most of them didn't, Kanda had no qualms with forcing his way through the group. But when Kanda reached the front, instead of heavily armored guards or sentries, there was only a man standing behind a counter.

"Your name?" the man asked, shifting a lengthy list in his hands. Kanda frowned, wondering if everybody in this place was ignorant to the Black Priests.

"Kanda Yuu," he stated, and blinked when a black rectangular object was placed in his hands.

"Welcome to Paixao," the man said, and all of a sudden Kanda was being escorted (pushed, rather) through the gates.

"What do you think you're--?!" Kanda started to protest, and then he laid eyes upon the inner city beyond the gates.

..Paixao?
