Characters: Flonne, a Jupiter Djinni, and Ivan
Content: Flonne finds a Djinni in a very unexpected way...or rather, it finds her.
Setting: Laharl/Flonne/Ivan's hotel room
Time: Midmorning
Warnings: ...implied nudity? Because she's taking a bath? C'mon, guys, it's Flonne. XD

It had been quite a while since Flonne had gotten to relax like this. Sure, the past few days had been pretty uneventful, but somehow she was still tense. Life hadn't been going well lately (huge understatement), and she was ready to just take some time off and just relax.

A bath should do it, she decided.

She'd spent the past ten minutes just soaking in the tub, bubbles piled high over the surface of the water. Leaning against the back of the tub, she sighed happily. She needed to do this more often.

~

All of a sudden, there came a muffled sound from somewhere in the ceiling, near the grate covering the small air duct; then, about fifteen seconds later, another one, by now accompanied by a gentle draft.

~

Relaxed to the point of being half asleep, Flonne had completely missed the first sound. She definitely caught the second one, though, shivering slightly as the cool breeze hit wet skin. "Ah...hello?" she called tentatively, looking up at the air duct.

~

With a squeak and a clang, the grate was abruptly knocked off its fixings and fell into the tub, narrowly missing the fallen angel. The little creature that had knocked it loose wasn't quite so lucky, and fell into the water right on top of her. Surprised at being very wet all of a sudden, it immediately started flailing and splashing in a mad scramble to get out of the tub.

~

Wide-eyed and startled, Flonne simply stared as the grate fell in the tub. What on Earth was going on?

Her question was soon answered - well, kind of - as something fell out of the grate and right on top of her. She yelped in surprise, losing what traction she had and sliding down in the tub, only to reemerge seconds later, spitting out bubbles and wiping water out of her eyes. It was only then that she fully realized there was something in the tub with her, and it didn't seem too happy to be there. "Oh...um..." She scooped it up, an act made difficult by its flailing, lifting it out of the tub and placing it on the bathroom rug. "Is that better?"

~

The Jupiter Djinn continued flailing as it was picked up and all the way to the rug, where it shook itself like a wet dog (although it wasn't much bigger than an average pug). Still too spooked to settle down, though, it hopped around the rug a few times trying to get its bearings.

~

Flonne watched the little creature curiously over the rim of the bathtub. What was it, and what had it been doing in the vents? Well, whatever it was, it still didn't look like it was too happy. She climbed out of the tub, taking the towel off a nearby rack, and knelt, reaching out to the creature to dry it off. Nevermind that she was dripping on the rug and still had suds in her hair - the little critter needed her help!

~

The Djinn resisted a bit at first, unused to being towel-dried, but after a moment, her help (as it finally recognized it) calmed it down considerably. Not to say it was happy about the situation, but at least it was only fidgeting and squeaking a little now.

~

"There, is that better?" Flonne asked as she noticed the creature calming down. It may as well have been rhetorical, as she was pretty sure the creature couldn't answer, but it somehow made her feel better to ask. "And where did you come from?" she questioned, finishing up drying the creature and laying the towel across her lap. "And...why were you in the vent? Isn't it cold up there?"

~

Naturally, the Djinn didn't really understand a word she was saying, so it just sat on the floor and looked at her curiously. When she was done talking, it hopped in place a couple of times and squeaked, although what had prompted it to do so was anyone's guess.

~

Flonne took that to mean "yes." So far as she knew, there probably weren't very many other things it could mean. "Um...okay..." She stood, pulling the plug on the tub and taking a minute to rinse the soap out of her hair under the faucet. "We should probably find out where you came from. Maybe someone's looking for you!"

It took Flonne a few minutes to towel off herself and get dressed, chatting at the small creature the whole time, before she scooped it into her arms and walked back into the hotel room. Taking a seat on the bed, she placed the creature in her lap and smiled down at it. "Do you have a name?"

~

The Djinn watched Flonne the whole time she was cleaning up. That had been a big surprise for it, falling into the water like that, but it was quite all right now and actually rather liked this strange person. It squeaked appreciatively at her once in her lap, then started making itself comfortable there.

~

"Oh...um..." Flonne wasn't quite sure what to do when the creature squeaked and settled in on her lap, but she couldn't complain. It was rather cute, after all. "Okay..." She figured no harm could come of simply letting the little creature rest for a while, and patted it gently on the head.
