Kiara was growing frustrated. She'd managed to escape Pride Rock, but her search for Kovu had so far been fruitless. She could find no sign of the young lion she had fallen in love with. Padding along she had finally found herself back at where she had been rescued by him. Ash now covered the ground where grass had once grown.
Setting down on her haunches she sighed. Where was Kovu?
She then had the funniest feeling. The feeling to turn around. Could something be there?
The young lioness turned, but paused feeling something sweep over her and whisk the ash up into the air around her. Raising a paw, she rested it over her eyes as she waited for it to pass. After a moment she pulled back her paw and blinked. The ash covered ground was gone. She now stood in a field of grass - white grass!
Kiara was baffled. She hadn't moved on her own had she? Why was this grass white? She'd never seen white grass before. She hadn't seen anywhere like this before at all! It was so strange. It even smelt different.
After several long moments she convinced herself to move. In the distance the could see something - something very, very, strange. She wasn't sure how to ever describe it as it was nothing like she'd ever seen before. Mountains perhaps? Something was there, that was for sure. It was large and ominous, and of course was just demanding to be investigated.
It didn't improve as she got closer, it only seem bigger and bigger. It was the strangest mountain she'd ever seen and there were... well... monkeys? They were pink skinned mainly... although had all kinds of strange fur that covered their bodies. Sort of. Wait... could these be humans? She'd heard of them vaguely but never actually seen one. Well, whatever they were they were all standing in a line in front of a huge hole that seemed to lead into the mountain.
After watching awhile, Kiara decided she didn't seem to have much choice but to try approaching and perhaps see where it was they were going. So she padded over to the line, and stood at the end. None of them reacted to her presence. Strange... Weren't humans meant to be scared of her?
Soon it was her turn at the front and she cautiously approached the human sitting inside... well she didn't know how to describe it. It was like a small cave... sort of.
"Um... Hello?" she tried speaking, wondering if the human's could understand her.
"Hello! Welcome to Paixao! Name please?" the human, it sounded female, greeted.
"Oh.. Um.. I'm Kiara..." Kiara answered, feeling more than a little surprised and confused.
"Right, here you go then," the human replied, reaching out and slipping something around her neck, with a rectangular object hanging on it. "In you go now. Next please!"
Kiara was almost speechless. "W-wait... I... Where are the Pride Lands?"
"The what? Sorry, I don't know what you're talking about. There's only Paixao here," she said, sounding rather annoyed. "Now, move along."
The lioness had a feeling that was all she was going to get, so did as she was told, hesitantly slipping through the gate, although she had a really bad feeling about it, but the bad feeling was quickly replaced with amazement.
This place...
"WOW..."
She couldn't think of anything else to say. Just, wow. It was indescribable. This was no mountain! That was for sure.
So, what now? What was she meant to do? This all seemed way too strange to be real. She didn't even think she could possibly dream up something as strange and amazing as this. Kiara also had never heard of this place. EVER. Surely if it was this close to the Pride Lands someone would have stories of it. Nothing made sense! She stood there sometime trying to figure out how to even begin to make sense of all this when a thought hit her.
KOVU! Could this be where Kovu was? She couldn't find him anywhere after all! Yes, she should look for Kovu! Having a goal for now helped. She could try to make sense of things later. Now... the question was where to start?
