"That goes there, the blue wire connects here..." Matt had the tendency to talk to himself while he worked, though the words came out muffled from the cigarette held in his lips. He didn't even bother to glance at the citizens milling about; after all, if they hadn't batted an eyelash when he pulled the mass of wires and packets from the bag, he doubted they'd pay attention to him now.

Sticking one last piece of tape down to secure the entire mess to the fountain's edge, he stepped back to give his handiwork a scrutinizing glance. There didn't seem to be anything wrong, so... Leaning forward, he gave the activation a hard job, starting the countdown, the timer clicking its way silently towards zero. A smug grin on his face, he abandoned the roll of tape and the empty shopping bag (they'd be blown to dust in a few moments anyway) and sauntered his way back towards their meeting spot, breathing out smoke rings.

Ever since he'd started making the habit of blowing things up in video games, he'd wanted to try it in real life at least once. It better be good.

Good, there was Matt coming back. Mello felt relieved, though he knew it was stupid. Maybe eventually he'd get over it, forget what it had been like to see Matt die, to know that it had been his fault, but that day wasn't today. It was still too recent, too fresh in his mind. Another nightmare he couldn't shake, to add to the ones he already had.

He tore his mind away from the past, from thoughts of things that had gone wrong and the consequences thereof. That was then, this was now, and he needed to concentrate on the current scheme. So far, so good, but then it was unlikely for anything to go wrong so early in the plan. The real question would be what happens now.

He bit off the corner of his chocolate bar viciously, grinning at Matt as he did so. "So, any bets on who or what comes to deal with this? Or are you betting on no response?" Even no response might be mildly interesting, at least in its implications, but Mello would rather something happened. Not that he was eager to die again, but he was definitely ready for some excitement.
