Although she couldn't prove it, Elena was sure this was somehow Reno's fault. Last night she was in Midgar. Now she wasn't.
It was only a few hours earlier when she'd stumbled ungracefully through the gate. She looked a little worse for wear with black eyes, unbrushed hair and her suit slightly crumpled. Although she didn't remember much of her entrance into Paixao she did remember interrogating the woman at the gate. She'd demanded information; details! names! places! What she got was a small electronic writing pad with a map and a bottle of water. No potion or elixir to cure her pounding headache though.
It was a bit of a blur. How did she end up here? Where was here?!
It was a pretty place, which jarred against the urban decay and on-going construction site she was used to living in. She felt uncomfortable; a sensation made worse by the way her stomach turned. Slurping at the bottled water to wash away the nausea Elena turned to see something white looking up at her.
A bunny? With strange glowing eyes sat on the low-raise brick wall looking up at her. After all the monsters and terrorists she'd confronted she wasn't scared by a strange glowing bunny... thing. She bent over and stared at it.
She wobbled a little.
She stared at it some more.
"This is all his fault, isn't it" she told the white thing. It tilted it's head inquisitively. "That slacker, Reno. I just know it was him & his side-kick!" she snapped.
The white bunny thing jumped once, almost irritated by her sharp tone, causing Elena to step back in surprise. "Oh sure I can't prove it" she explained, "but he did spike my drink. That'll teach me to trust him... 'Just chill, Elena' 'Have a drink, Elena' 'It's just peach juice, Elena' 'We saved the day, Elena'!" She waved her arms around as she did the world's worst Reno impression. She wrinkled her nose and added a spiteful, "'yo'" on the end. "So what if they helped that spikey haired delivery boy to stop Kadaj. That's no excuse for doing... this!"
The nose on her white little companion twitched up and down as it continued to stare at her. Elena extended an informing index finger and waved it vaguely in the creature's direction "If you see a guy in a suit with long red hair, or a bald man with sunglasses then run. Run as fast as you can. Run as far as you can. Cuz those two are nothing but trouble!"
The bunny thing obviously didn't like being preached at and darted off into nearby bushes. Elena sighed and slumped down onto the wall where her companion had been sat. With no-one else to talk to she continued to talk to herself.
"I'll show them" she griped as she reached inside her jacket pocket pulling out the electric journal she'd been handed. "I'll get back to Midgar and report them both! Sempai will see how well I adapted to the situation and coped on my own, then he'll..." she paused. "But then he'll think I'm weak that they got the drop on me in the first place"
For once she brewed her thoughts quietly in her own head, subconsciously biting the top of her water bottle. Sighing again she flipped through the information she had to hand. Looking at the map she located the gate she had passed through earlier. Joutenheim. There didn't appear to be much in the surrounding area. Her brown eyes moved around until she found a name vaguely familiar. "Cid's Shop?"
She looked down to see her little bunny friend looking back up at her again. "Cid, the rocket man Cid?" she asked it. Standing up she told it, "If it's him, he might know a way home!"
Elena blinked as if waiting for a reply from the bunny thing. "What am I doing?" she murmured "I'm talking to a... thing". She slumped back down on her walled seat woefully nursing her bottle of water.
