Carbuncle was sure he'd had a nice dream. But you know how that is, don't you? When you wake up, you start forgetting whatever it is you dreamed about. Either way, he was pretty sure it had been a happy dream because he was happy right now, and happy always equals more happy. Unless you wake up and something bad happens, because sometimes happy can equal sad if sad things happen to you.
He was sad yesterday, for a little while. Upon entering Circle World (he came up with that one himself; after all, Paixao was just a big dome) Carbuncle met two fluffy Roar Roars who knew how to speak play-language. That was about the only way he could understand them, since they were speaking human, and he didn't know much of that. But he did know that certain sounds meant certain things. He knew what his name sounded like, and he knew they called themselves by sounds too. Sounds like feenaa and raabee. Carbuncle liked those sounds.
Then they left all of a sudden, and this made him sad. But today Carbuncle had no reason to be sad, and this meant he must be happy.
Today he decided it wasn't a good idea to speak play. One of the yellow-stringed humans must have summoned him here for a reason, and he had to find them! They all looked alike, but he had a feeling that he would know when one of them needed his help. So today Carbuncle wasn't going to speak play, he was going to speak work. The summon scrunched his little face up and attempted to look serious, like Ifrit or Bahamut, as he sat around waiting for a Yellow Stringie to need his help.
As he waited, he watched. Yellow Stringies seemed like very nice Stringies. They were all very peaceful, and they were smiling, so they clearly spoke happy. But if they spoke happy, they didn't speak mean. So how could somebody be in trouble and need his help? Carbuncle let out a tiny, defeated "Miii~" when one of the Stringies walked right past him with lots of bags in her hands. He watched her hurry on past, tail wagging as he caught a whiff of something sweet and yummy... but then he noticed she was walking right into a tree! She would probably drop all the yummy things in her bag! Oh noes!
Carbuncle bolted out between miss Yellow Stringy and the fake tree, quickly casting Ruby Light on the girl and her bags. Nothing solved problems like a good old reflect spell, right? Carbuncle thought so, until she walked smack dab into him and knocked him into the evil tree.
"Miii!"
The summon shook his head a little, then watched as the girl collected herself and took off in the other direction. Crisis averted!
There, he had done his job!! Carbuncle squeezed his eyes shut and tried to jump through a tiny hole back into his own world, as he usually did... but he found himself jumping around on hard grey rock-floor.
"Mi!"
Something was wrong. Why was he still there?
