Oh, a guess at a day which is, odds are, some time away---I doubt date matters, with the different times.

Although, if pressed, I'll say it's for the flowers.

In my world, verse was commonly sent to and fro on a Valentine's Day, which occurred once a year. It celebrated, primarily, the relationships of lovers, but it was not entirely unheard of that friends should also send gifts or greetings.
