One down, one to go

For my modernism class, we had a take-home midterm to do this weekend. Dr. Schoenbach repeatedely emphasized (in class and on the test itself) that we were only to spend two hours from the time I opened the stapled-closed test to the time I finished. We could spend however long we wanted in preparation before opening the test. So, I spent some time this evening reviewing my notes and stuff, and finally opened the test at 6-something. I went three minutes over, and dutifully noted this on my test, as the test directed.

It was a formidable test, consisting of two questions. I suppose that made it easier time-wise, to plan an hour per question, but I still found it rough. We'll see how I do.

Friday I have my midterm in Faulkner, which I'm going to start preparing for in a bit. I really should relish it--Faulkner is a senior-level undergrad class I'm taking for grad credit, and, while the paper I'll write is different from the one the other students write, I take the same midterm as they do. This class may be the last time I have an undergrad-style exam, with passages to identify title, author, speaker, and significance, as opposed to exams with two questions, which ask things like, "Give your own definition of the metaphysics of the Symbolism movement based on our readings, and whether Proust's work emplifies this movement."

Whew. Now, on to the world of incest and dead mules...
