The Chrismukkah that almost wasn’t aka the one where Caleb get’s slapped, twice

Aug 22, 2011 02:01

So it’s Chrimuskkah time already (didn’t school just start like three episodes ago and it’s already December? What happened to Thanksgiving or you know, Fall) and lots of stuff happen.

Previous Part

Okay so to start, what happened to fall. I mean it I know we never seem them in school but come on people it was 3-4 months in five episodes? That’s just nuts.

Anyways time jump aside lots of stuff happened most centered around the Chrismukkah party, Lindsay and the following exchange

Summer Suddenly my family, not so dysfunctional
Marissa You do know this is my family too
Summer Right, sorry I forgot sometimes its’…its’ confusing
And they haven’t even seen the worst of it yet

Well Seth is all for Chrimuskkah he loves it so and he wants everyone in on it

Sandy is understandable not into it since he’s helping Caleb hide the fact that he has a third kid (Lindsay) from Kirsten, but Seth will have his party.

All does not go well in the plan stages as both Marissa and Lindsay end up invited, see above for Ryan’s reaction, and then it goes down hill when Sandy finds out about Lindsay and in jest Seth calls her Caleb’s love child

Sandy doesn’t hide his reaction well and the boys now know. So they go to un-invite Lindsay and Summer so as not to have both Lindsay and Caleb in the same room (Marissa gets to stay because she’s still family)
Well Seth couldn’t do it because Summer called him her friend then kissed him and Ryan well

She made a something and he looks real cute in

See cute so he couldn’t cut her out

Seth even loves it when he sees it

Which is right before the party starts

And everyone shows up

And I do mean everyone (that by the way if you don’t recall is Lindsay’s mother and the one that slept with Caleb) and as you can guess with everyone in the came place it comes out and well

Kirsten slaps him

And then Julie did (but on a side note Julie has the less reason to be mad, it happened 16 years ago she was with Jimmy then..kind of like she is now but that’s a different plot line)

So the teens watch it go down and then the guys go and see how the others are as Marissa and Summer do the quote I did at the start.

Seth looks after his mother by standing up to his Grandfather and telling him to just go away (like everyone else is telling him). Caleb finally listens but Kirsten has locked herself in the closet. Even my Newport standards this is a bad party.

Well they all end up at the Crab Shack (the place last season where Ryan worked for a bit) and talk but first an aside. Ryan comes in later and he doesn’t sit on the half of the bench that is open but takes the much more limited space next to Seth

And then does the arm back over the shoulder thing to Seth…they are so dating.
So back to the plot. Summer has a plan to save Chrismukkah and after kicking Seth and glaring down the others everyone is on board

First it’s Ryan’s job to get Kirsten to leave the closet which he does back asking Kirsten to not think of Caleb but of Lindsay, her sister (but Kirsten is not ready to call her that yet). And I want to take a moment here. Sandy couldn’t get her out, and it wasn’t Seth the teens sent to try and talk her out but Ryan. Now later the show makes a point about how Ryan has become the glue of the Cohen family, their Rock and Heart in many ways and it’s great to see it here and it works. Kirsten responds to Ryan in a way she wouldn’t to the others because Ryan was the outsider. He says Lindsay needs to find out how welcoming the Cohen’s can be to new members and he can say that because he is a new member. He’s not family by blood but by choice. They all want him as part of their family and his first season efforts to push them away only makes them closer and more central to the family. Add to that the fact that Ryan is old for his age even when he try’s to just be a kid (and still acts like a teenager often) he’s been forced to be grown up and that never changed. He’s not an adult but he’s not a teen either and that lets him connect to everyone in the family, he loves comics and playing playstation and falling in love with Seth (and not in the slashly way, unless you’re a slasher like me), he has Sandy’s heart and compassion and desire to help others, and he’s following in Kirsten’s footsteps in Architecture. Ryan really does connect them.

and I think I’ll stop talking before I embarrass Ryan any more

So Seth talks to Lindsay and gets her to go back home where

A Chrismukkah miracle has happened by the power of Summer…and that just sounds real odd but anything everyone maybe made at Caleb but the rest of the family is trying to move on.
