The Way We Were aka Oh-my-god times four

The season continues with people leaving and people coming and a small meta on Ryan.

Previous Part

So this episode has three main plots, only one of which I will talk about. Mostly I’m going to talk about the small stuff they set up.

The two plots I’m not talking about? Hailey leaves Jimmy for Japan

And Caleb is arrested but more about that later then it’s a bigger plot

Mostly the episode is about Seth and Ryan trying to get things back to the way they were with Summer and Marissa.

Seth doesn’t want to go to the first day of school because well, Summer hates him for leaving still (as she should)

Ryan is worried because…well he did leave Marissa for the women who was having his baby so he’s not looking forward to it either.

Kirsten and Sandy have gotten so used to not having the boys around they forgot that one of them needs to drive the boys to school

The contactor end up doing it (at least he has a shirt on this time)

And who do they see right off?

That’s right

They all say oh my god, it’s funny really because it’s Seth, Summer, Ryan and Marissa and only Marissa seems happy.

And now I’m going to cover Seth’s half of the plot then Ryan’s

So Seth tried talking to summer and get’s blown off so he starts a comic book club

It goes about as well as you’d think until a new guy shows up, Zach. He likes comics and Seth loves him

So it seems does Summer. He’s her new boyfriend

But Seth won’t stand for that so at the Carnival Seth takes a stand

A hotdog stand. And tells Summer he loves her

In front of Zach, then Summer tells Seth off and leaves. Seth being Seth stand in front of her car and makes her tell him off again

Until Ryan drags him home.

Ryan doesn’t have much better luck

Marissa is sleeping with DJ the Yard Guy (in the middle of a school day) but is happy be to Ryan’s girlfriend again

And then Ryan see them together, those are the lights from the truck Ryan’s in, and well that goes bad

At the Carnival Ryan finds Marissa and they talk.

Ryan’s problem is he asked if she was seeing anyone and she lied so he tells her they need to not see each other.

Which means then they get home they are both single, again.

Now for a couple of smaller things in the show today

First Ryan is told to start thinking about College. It’s clear from his face that even after the last year of being with the Cohen’s Ryan didn’t think college could happen for him, he made it plain he wouldn’t let the Cohen’s pay for it, but the counselor told him he could earn his own way with his test scores. Something Ryan had never thought about before.

Well as part of the remodeling plan Ryan noticed a problem and even figures a way to fix it because he has some architect skills but the contactor doesn’t listen

The counselor does and puts Ryan in classes to set him up to become an architect and that rocks but I think it shows just how far Ryan still has to go that the idea of College was still something he saw as out side his grasp even after the last year. When she asked him what he wanted to be, he froze. The idea of choosing of not having that choice made by a baby or family or something else is still something he’s trying to deal with even if the last episode made it clear he can not longer be happy (if he ever could) just doing what was needed to just survive, he needed more even if he still doesn’t know what that more is just yet.

And okay I think I’m done now
