Hey everyone!

August 23/06 I went into see the gynocologist because I am getting a tubal ligation (fixed) and he also took the regular bloodwork plus tested me for Factor 5 Leiden http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Factor_V_Leiden which is a clotting disorder that my son has, and they tested me to see if my son got it from me and also because if I did have it I cannot take hormonal birth control since it also ups your chances of clotting. I finally got the results back friday (september 1/06) I tested positive for the Thrombin Gene, which is not the same as Factor 5 Leiden but it does mean my son got Factor 5 Leiden from me since I tested positive for the Thrombin Gene. I had to stop taking the pill and cannot use any other form of hormonal birth control now. Good thing I am getting a tubal soon! (Nov 3/06) yay! I am so excited!

For those of you who don't know, we have 2 children already, one of each! a boy and a girl.

Our son was born in Feb/03, only has one functioning kidney due to Renal Vein Thrombosis http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Renal_vein_thrombosis which was not caused by Factor 5 Leiden, that is a different problem, they never figured out the reason for his renal clot but figure the Factor 5 Leiden could have been a contributing factor. He has a 50% chance of passing Factor 5 Leiden to his children. Other than that, he is a happy, very energetic little boy!

Our daughter was born in July/04 and diagnosed with Bilateral Retinoblastoma http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Retinoblastoma on Dec 1/05, at 16.5 months old. She ended up losing both of her eyes, left eye Dec 13/05, then had 6 cycles of chemotherapy, 3 subtenons in her right eye, lots of laser & cryo to her right eye before it was removed May 15/06 which put her into remission. She still has regular follow up with her oncologist once a month for bloodwork & a lumbar puncture and has an MRI every 3 months. She had tumour extenstion into her left optic nerve which means she has a greater chance of cancer reocurring in her socket/spinal fluid. By the pathology they figure if something is going to show up, it will more likely be in her spinal fluid than socket by the way the pathology went. Also having Bilateral Retinoblastoma is a genetic mutation, which leaves her at risk for secondary cancers, and also a 50% chance of passing it off to her children. She did not inherit RB from us, her case was sporadic.
She is blind but you wouldn't know it by watching her. She struts around like she can see where she is going!

I am almost finished the wedding invitations then they will be mailed out soon! For those of you that are not invited, I hope you do not take it the wrong way. I am only inviting family, closest friends I have known a long time and that is it. It is going to be a very small wedding. To us marriage is basically a piece of paper. We have already been together and lived together 5 years now, so marriage is not going to change anything other than my last name. It just gives us a chance to celebrate our love for each other and make it legal.

Gonna go watch Prison break. Leave some comments!
