ugh, i know. though i actually... thought this fandom could be really cathartic for me? though it's a completely different situation and i don't want to make light of what these guys have been through at all, the sense of 'this is more loss than i've ever felt' and 'this is more pain than i've ever felt', and the trouble readjusting to civilian life, and feeling like you're in a whole 'nother world from regular people and can never really relate your experience to them, it hits very, very close to home with my own experience w/ the severe chronic illnesses, and feeling like i'm in my own personal little war. WHICH MAKES IT DOUBLY HARD TO WRITE BECAUSE I HAVE TO REACH DOWN TO WHERE IT'S DEEP AND PAINFUL AND BLEED THAT ALL OVER THE PAGE, but i think it also adds a touch of realism that perhaps i wouldn't be able to have, otherwise.

...but anyway. THE LEANING IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE MOMENTS IN THIS, because those little gestures always mean so much. and like, i wish i could have made it just a happy piece, because sledge being all asodmasodhasidj/PROUD GODFATHER RUSHING OUT TO SEE HIS BEST FRIEND'S FIRST BORN CHILD is the cutest thing ever and so very him, but;; IT WASN'T MEANT TO BE. I WILL WRITE HAPPIER MOMENTS IN THE FUTURE. LIKE I DID WITH TEAM!LECKIE BEFORE.
