I have a lot of things to write about council camp this year.
Suffice to say, this year's has been most memorable (in more ways than one) and definitely the one that will stick in my mind, the one that has honestly fueled a true deeper love for council and the one that will motivate me to stick on for the alumni, to continually return to this group of people.
I'm a bit teary because it's the last council camp ever, as Batch 10. And prior to the camp, I was dreading it, because I thought it was gonna be a tekan camp and the very thought of having to spend 4 days getting tekanned and with people I seemingly can't connect with seemed like an unnecessary chore. But I think this camp has shown that without force you really can be a better person. What I loved best was the CIP, because honestly it's the BIGGEST and most tangible way to see true results, which is what this camp really did. Like high elements and kayaking and everything - it's obvious you were doing something, that you could see the outcome of your work, and most of all, there would be the benefits towards the group of people you were doing it for.
Before this camp, I thought council was getting to be quite a drag because all the rules that were enforced NOW would have no place in its future once we graduated. But talking to the residents of Kwong Wai Shiu hospital has made me realised that if we just take that step out into the community, the rules are just a small part of the picture, a necessary 'evil', and baby steps to be a truly giving person who remembers her roots and all.
And I was really very touched by all the people who were just there for me when I blacked out and all (twice! ><) like Jiin Shiuan and the seniors and Pong and Carin. (:
And well, being in this camp has really taught me things about my council mates especially the juniors, like Marianne, Valencia, Sock Kheng and Eileen.
I really don't want to launch into details because I may cry so yeah.
BUT, love goes out tooo:
BATCH 10 SUPERMAN, DDfanclub and the D herself ((((:, camp facs like Alina and Quijun and Pheywa, Marianne-Baby and my Ailin-Honey, Jiin Shiuan, and last but not least - the legacy of NYSC.
NYSC Council Camp 2005 - the Hardfelt Way.
And just for laughs:
