Okay, so I didn't vote. Bad bad me. But I never got around to actually finding anything out about the candidates, so. I hate when people encourage voting even if it's someone who is completely ignorant about politics. Heh, which I basically am, and usually kind of enjoy. Politics gives me too much of a headache. The whole world's going to hell anyway. No, I'm joking, kind of, yeah, if you voted, kudos to you. When they get rid of the dumbass old-fashioned system I'm too tired to remember the word for which basically means your vote doesn't count that much, then I'll get my ass into that booth more from now on. This is Illinois. We have Chicago. Plenty of D votes without me not even being sure whether I should punch the D or write in "libertarian party" as another option with a pen.

I did something really insane and entered hpfanficidol. Really insane. If I make it to the preliminaries, I'll have to be punching out one-shots to go along with prompts that could be anything from "darkfic" to "styrofoam." If any of you guys write HP and have something under 2,000 words lying around you can enter, I encouragew it, because I don't want to win just because hardly anybody entered and there was no good competition. Maybe I don't want to make it to prelims anyway...LOL. It'll be a lot of work if I don't get voted off early.

Don't ask me why in the hell (I guess after seeing The Prestige twice I needed something that wouldn't strain my brain so much), but I've started watching Queer As Folk. Yes, I have actually never watched an episode of QAF before. It's...well. Once you look past the annoying gay club music, which is all compensated for with the use of the greatest Dandy Warhols song ever at the end of the pilot anyway ("Sleep"), and how you want the 12-year-old blond kid to go away, it's kind of cute and really hilarious. I kind of go back and forth between thinking it's something I would actually be kind of offended by if I were gay since it reinforces stereotypes so much. When you decide that the theme of your show is homosexuality and nothing less broad than that, I guess you have no choice but to throw some of that stuff in. At least a show about a variety of gay guys including some who like clothes and wouldn't know how to change a tire is better than having one homosexual in a show who is a whiny little girl (coughSixFeetUndercough).

Speaking of gay dramas, my God, we only got twenty minutes into Angels In America in my Drama class on Monday and already it had me feeling like crying. Have you ever cried while watching a movie in a class? I hate when I do that. I had to try not to when I watched The Joy Luck Club in my English class in high school and definitely just did when my Biology class watched Gattaca. Strangely, those are the only two movies I can think of that I cried at because of a really happy scene instead of a sad one.

shows, movies, queer as folk, writing, fanfic, harry potter
