I am up way too early today on my DAY OFF, because the phone rang about 50 million times before 7 am. Do i want to cover a shift at the DeVargas Starbucks? Can i work for someone ay my store who is sick? (Maybe you wouldn't be sick if you didn't go home from closing last night and get stoned- just a thought.) NO, I WANT TO SLEEP. It wouldn't have been as bad if one of them hadn't kept calling back and then hanging up when they got the machine. I'm not picking up the phone! Stop calling! So that was it, i was so angry, i couldn't sleep any more, and i got up. I had some coffee, had a shower, and here i am. We're supposed to go out for breakfast with Sarah and the new love of her life, so i'm waiting for her to call. It might be a little early for that kind of sickening lovey-doveyness, but i'm hungry.
Interesting fact about guinea pigs (and bunnies too, apparently): They make these things called 'cecotropes' which, to the untrained eye, look like turds, but are actually little nutrition-filled pellets which they remove from their butts and eat, right on your lap sometimes, thank you very much, Hazelnut. Nicole wants to take the piggies to the vet- Ralphie seems diferent, and she thinks she's not fat enough. I think it's just her runt-like figure. She bit me yesterday, really hard! We are fighting now. Hazelnut has 2 toenails growing otu of one toe, and won't let us clip them, so the vet will have to do that. We actually found a really cool vet who knows a lot about piggies, having raised and shown them for years. She's also good with rats, as i discovered when i took Simon there and she popped this disgusting abscess he had- it was super gross!
Even though it is December, it has been nice enough to go outside in just a hoodie. Sweet! I don't miss that about NY at all. One thing i do miss is Italians and their cooking. Everyone is Italian in NY- i didn't realize how much i would miss their cooking out here. I was so excited about all the great Mexican food i would get to eat, but sometimes i get all burrito-ed out, and i just want a damn pizza or something that's not the Olive Garden, but that's too much to ask out here. Sigh...
I want to get a lot of house-cleaning done today. We are getting ready for Nicole's mom to visit, but i also want to get things cleaned up so we can put in a work order for... pretty much all the plumbing. The bathroom sink is all fucked up and the hot water lasts for about the first 2 minutes of your shower lately. That ain't right.
We have a new assistant manager at work, and nobody likes her. In fact, we can barely stand her. I won't get into it here, but i had to close with her last night, which went a bit better than i expected, but still... she gave me an unfortunate compliment- after she asked me to do something (because she thinks we're all idiots) and i told her it was already done (because i actually do know how to do my job, unlike her) she was like "Yay! When i make the next schedule, i'm going to make sure i work with you as much as possible, because i love it!" Oh shit... please don't! That's got to be the worst idea i've ever heard. We're trying our best to expose her incompetence. I dont' understand how she got hired in the first place, but we're trying to repair that mistake.
Ok, i guess i better stop tying up the phone lines in case anyone else wants to bother me (or Sarah tries to call)!
