(no subject)
Turns out someone quit on that Forest Service trail crew I was trying to get on so now I've got a job! I'll be living near Eureka MT and making good money hiking and working. The work should last until around October when I'll head back to Eugene for the winter. The work involves being on fire reserve for the district which gives me the necisarry experience to qualify for fire crew next year where I'll make the bigger bucks. I'm already entertaining far-fetched fantasies of joining smoke jumpers in a couple of years thereby combining my childhood desire to be paid to parachute out of planes with my young-adult desire to work in a ridiculously dangerous and tough job.
They say God looks after drunks and fools, I'm lucky enough to be both.
I'm excited.
There's a thunderstorm tonight, the first of the year and I talked with Jessamy for the first time since Maggotfest. I'm not sure which of us is more disappointed that we can't visit before I start work. But that's part of being young and mobile I guess.
