Re: Reassessing the ApocalypsearandomblogDecember 7 2008, 15:42:31 UTC
Hello again ivanpaner (the author) and painraven (the blog). This topic left me in contemplative abyss. I can't continue writing my fourth post, since my mind is still in this one. Hence I felt the tendency to write my thoughts down. And instead of creating an entry of similar topic, I opted to just share my thoughts here. [sorry for the very long comment, i swear hindi na mauulit XD]
Amaze yourself in the wonder of the universe? I have spent nineteen years taking the universe for granted, whining about the things that are, and wishing for the things that aren't. And I think the Earth deserves to be appreciated even by us pessimists even for once at least during the last few hours, before we decay and become part of it.
In things-to-do-24-hours-before-death lists, I realized a pattern, we tend to plan things we haven't tried yet, intending the day to be special, unique and worth-remembering (okay, scrap the third adjective -.-'). Probably an instinct engraved in human nature. The things we want to do before we die are the things we wouldn't do if we weren't going to die yet. Risking enjoyment for experience. But I also realized, through Imarie's comment below, that apparently, a particular emotion transcends this pattern. Love. If you love someone, you would still want to spend your last breaths beside him/her even if you have done that bazillion times already. Of course I didn't realize that earlier since I haven't really been in that level of love. Yet.
As I was saying, we all want our last days to be special. Would someone who LOVES and ENJOYS collecting stamps (and i still don't know when and how did stamp-collecting become a hobby >_<) choose to collect more stamps even to his/her very last day? Even if I am 100% sure I would be having the time of my life playing dota before I die, I still wouldn't choose to. I'd rather do something else I haven't done. I'd rather surf. =)
And I didn't know you surf. I don't know how to surf. And I think the ocean isn't as easy as the Internet. Though I sort of pseudo-surfed when I was young. I was able to effortlessly STAND on a salbabida (the long yellow rectangular kind) while moving along with the waves. I caught the attention of many people in that beach. Imitation of which was failed by other children including my brothers. I don't know if that ability merits a label. But I should at least learn to surf (on a real surfboard, that is) before this lifespan ends.
How do you make love to an electric fan, though? How do you pimp a litt? Life is full of possibilities. =)
