"There was a moment in my life when I thought I knew the truth, when I thought I knew life, when I thought I knew love, but I realized that I didn't know any of that until I realized that it was all bullshit and what life really is and love really is...I have yet to see, and perhaps I see it in you."
Okay so it's not really a quote...I wrote it...but it felt like it needed quotes.
Strength is funny. It comes in so many different forms. Men are considered strong based on how much they can lift. Women are considered strong when they can withstand the emotional things that come at them. But real strength...how you can define it so simply? People say it takes strength to forgive people, and it does, but does it not take more strength to realize that perhaps more is needed in forgiveness? You can forgive someone and still know that that isn't enough, that it doesn't take away everything that happened.
Strength is when you are able to realize what you need. Strength is knowing when the wrong thing is sometimes the right thing because it allows for the right thing to happen. Strength is knowing when someone needs something more than you need what you want. Strength is being able to make a decision even when you don't want to. Strength is being able to tell someone how you feel. Strength is crying when you hurt and smiling when you're happy. Strength is realizing that the past isn't your fault. Strength is knowing that you can't please everyone and giving up trying to. Strength is caring even when you are no longer friends. Strength is never forgetting your dreams. Strength is dreaming what others say is impossible. Strength is forgiving those that don't ask for it and don't deserve it. Strength is holding in that which doesn't need to be said. Strength is sitting through discussions of people you don't want to hear about. Strength is holding in a scream when you want to just let it out. Strength is accepting that your past effects your present and future and accepting that not everyone knows your past. Strength is surviving the worst time of your life and not succumbing to it. Strength is knowing that your worst time isn't what everyone else thinks it is, and not feeling the need to explain it to everyone. Strength is allowing yourself to completely submit yourself to someone because you care about them. Strength is telling your darkest secret and leaving yourself vulnerable. Strength is knowing that when others consider you weak, you are in fact only gaining strength.
Now think about it...are you strong?
