I'm finally getting around to writing about Hellfest....yeah I've been one lazy bum since I got back. Everything went smooth on the way up to Hellfest no plane delays or anything. The hotel I stayed at was wicked nice for only being 50 bucks a night. It had a couch, balcony, microwave and a TV with some actual good channels on it.

Friday
I ran into my first problem just getting to the venue Hellfest was at. I asked the front desk person to call a cab for me to give me a ride there. Everything was ok until we actually got to the venue and I had to pay him. Apparently a 5-minute cab ride cost $22 in New Jersey. That sucked horribly because I had to sit aside $100 just for a fooking cab to take me to Hellfest everyday. When I got in line it was pouring down rain and I had to stand in it for 2 hours until I finally got inside. So I missed getting to see the akas, the red chord, champion, oval portrait, calico system and unearth. The first band I got to see was the wicked bad ass one called Everytime I Die. They were insane on stage and everyone was into them. About halfway though the set this guy on the walkway jumped off and broke both of his legs. Wonder what he was thinking before he jumped off a 30 foot high walkway. After Everytime I Die I walked around and checked out the venue. Hellfest organized everything perfectly this year...big signs pointing you to stages (something warped tour should do). Schedules of the bands playing posted all over the place. They had really good vegan food from $3 to $6 and drinks were only 2 dollars. Everything there was really cheap and they didn't hike up the prices on the food and drinks like *coughs coughs* warped tour does. They had a shitloads of merch there for bands...not tables set up for getting you to sign up to a new cell phone provider. Next band up was the best new fucking band in hardcore (well kinda new) Remembering Never. Everyone went insane for them the second they took the stage. I was about 4 rows back from the stage during there whole set. During grenade in the mouth tragedy a guy wearing a giant pig costume jumped up on stage and hardcore danced. Next band up was Terror...without their lead singer. He was sick and in the hospital so there bass player did the singer and someone from some other band took over on bass for him. So I at least now know the bass player for Terror can't sing at all. They were horrible on stage but hey at least they decided to play anyways. Mos def will see them again when the singer is better. As I Lay Dying was the next band I ended up seeing. The crowd wasn't into them at all....that shocked me I thought it would be so awesome and brutal. They were all right this time but I think they were still better when they played the Emerson. The last band I ended up seeing was Norma Jean...the new vocalist sucks soooo much balls that I walked out on the rest of the set.
Saturday
I had a message from the hotel people so I want downstairs to find out what was wrong. Apparently it cost $7 each time I picked up the phone and used it. Collect calls even cost that much money...same with fooking busy signals. I called my dad twice once on his cell and once at home. Both of the times they came up as busy signals yet I was still charged $7 dollars. I was so mad by the time I left the hotel because less and less money was being spent on merch and more and more spent on useless stuff. The line for Hellfest was even longer this day but since everyone had there tickets already it only took me and hour to get though it. I spent most of the day at the two side stages the hot topic stage and the dinosaur stage. I'm going to make this easier on myself and change the formatting because I'm to lazy and cool like that.
Horse the band
Sooooo good live ahh just sooooo good mos def will see them again.
Comeback Kid
They were all right I only stayed for half of the set because they got boring after awhile.
Embrace Today
Good as always live. The singer was really into it and kept jumping out into the crowd.
Between the Buried and Me
Really good live a lot better than I thought they would be. There sound was perfect really close to cd quality.
Dead To Fall
Man I hate when a band does this it annoys the crap out of me. They played all new songs but 3 from there last cd. During those 3 songs everyone want crazy ripping shit up. Bodies want flying into walls making huge holes in them, ceiling tiles were ripped down and people hanging from the roof. It was so brutal I just wish they played all old songs so that would have lasted the whole time. There new stuff is good though so at least that’s a plus.
The Hope Conspiracy
Nothing special about them...for some reason I never really liked them that much just had to sit though them to get a good spot for Evergreen Terrace
Evergreen Terrace
Yeahhh booysss wicked good as always. Only played one cover song, take a guess at what one it was. Really good live everyone want insane for them. People were jumping off the speakers, getting on stage and singing along, so basically everything that makes a hardcore concert awesome.
Zao
haha I actually watched them with about 4 other people. They sucked horribly bad onstage and noone even watched them. Sorry had to make fun of Zao since they suck so hardcore.
Underoath
Just as good as Warped Tour...maybe a little bit better since the crowd was into them more.
I got in a cab to take me back to my hotel and hey he took me back to the courtyard. I walked inside and was confused and started walking around trying to find my room. Finally I walked outside and started looking around and realized hey...everything looks different. So I asked the front desk person if there were any other courtyards around here. 3 was the awesome answer I got from her so I had to take a shuttle back to the airport than took that to my courtyard.
Sunday
The line was HORRIBLE sooooo HORRIBLE. It was 3 times as long as the second day and it took sooo long to get though it. I missed bear vs shark, misery signals, a perfect murder, zombie apocalypse and alexisonfire because of that line. They beefed up security for some reason so everyone got patted down two times than ran though a metal detector twice. So that made the line barely move at all.
Most Precious Blood
All right live I still need to pick up their cd and give it a listen
Death By Stereo
hahah such a horrible horrible band. More people were sitting at the second stage waiting for Shai Hulud to take the stage so the singer want over the the second stage trying to get people to go back to the first stage.
Shai Hulud
This was there last show as Shai Hulud the singer is going to a diff band now. They were amazing live everyone gave %98702 to make there last show awesome.
Throwdown
Respect the X boys and love Throwdown. They were good live nothing really special though.
Bleeding Through
I felt bad for them because they didn't want to be there at all. All of their shit was stolen the day before Hellfest so they were pissed about that. The only thing not stolen was the bass players bass...than the airport lost it on their flight out to Hellfest. They were pissed the whole time playing so the singer kept shoving people and kicking people off the stage. I would be pissed at them for doing that but since they had such a shity day and decided to play for us anyways I didn't mind that much. By the end of the show though the singer was happy and smiling and telling people to get onstage and sing along and that he was sorry for being a dick.
Converge
hahah horrible as always. Man I wish they would get a new singer that you know could...um sing?
Dillinger Escape Plan
They were all right live...the crowd was not into them at all though. Last band I saw at Hellfest before going home.

Overall the concert was really good...even slightly better than last year. Loved how cheap everything was and how good the food tasted. They put a lot of planning in the concert and organized so much stuff. They gave two party rooms to PETA and other animal right groups and they had vegan bands come in and sign stuff for fans. Had signs going to all the stages and had people walking around that could help you find stuff whenever you needed help. They had a bag check in that was only 1 dollar for each day as many bags as you wanted. The only bad thing was the line...they need to figure out a way to make the line move faster. There is no good excuse to start standing outside at 12 and not getting in until 2:30. Hellfest is a hell of a lot better than Warped Tour can ever be...probably better than almost every other hardcore festival out there. Can't wait to go again next year hopefully some people will join me in the fun.
