The Bronze was deserted, you’d think it was an abandoned building if you walked by it now. Except that it looked like one of those party streamer poppers exploded on the inside

I couldn’t stand it, not anymore. Yeah, sometimes a bloke has bloody crazy dreams, ‘specially when he spends most nights throwing down with a pretty girl but that’s all they are, dreams. Then again that wasn’t really the problem, the problem was that I was having them every, bloody night
( ... )
I bent over the table to try and sink the four ball into the corner pocket. I tried to get better at playing pool but I wasn't all that good at it, it was still fun.
There was a loud noise and I jumped, crying out and dropping my stick onto the floor. Spinning around I looked around to find a place to hide; I didn't want to get into any trouble for being in here and I was far from strong enough to take on a demon.
Thankfully it was only Spike. I sighed and felt myself relax a bit, seeing though that he seemeed upset by the way he kicked in the door and stomped into The Bronze.
"What the hell are you doing here, then pet?"
Blinking out of my shock I looked at him and sighed. "I was going to ask you that." I gave him an amused look, cocking my brow and giving him a look as I opened the top to my soda and taking a sip.
I watched as he grumbled and grabbed a bottle of whiskey before turning back and looking at me. "So..."
"I was going to ask you that." S’pose she was at that, it wasn’t as if either of us had any right to be here. But then again, that was the difference between me and her, I didn’t care about what I had the right to do, she did.
Shrugging off her question, I grabbed a bottle of whiskey from behind the bar and popped the top off. I was going to drown my bloody sorrows and hopefully pass out, instead of sleep so I didn’t have to endure anymore of those bloody dreams.
”So…” I heard her say and I turned around. What did she care? Come to think of it what the hell was she doing here all alone? I would’ve thought she and Red’d be…celebrating. I grinned slightly at the image that thought made in my head before walking over to her.
“So what love?” I asked, looking over the pool table. She wasn’t bad.
I looked up at Spike as he walked over, his eyes glazed a bit for a moment and I couldn't help but roll my eyes slightly. It seemed that most men had one thing on their mind when it came to women and women who sleep with other women.
"So what love?"
"I was wondering what...what you were doing here." I pointed down to the bottle in his hand. "Besides stealing." I watched as he eyed the table behind me, noting how I did and I shrugged, blushing slightly. "I just w-wanted to be alone. -That's all..."
I fished in my pocket for some more quarters, looking down I counted them, realizing I was a bit short. "If you've...if you want we could play a game..." I put the coins on the edge of the table before playing with the chalk cube. "Unless you want to just...go and drown yourself alone or...or whatever you had planned for tonight..."
I looked at her thoughtfully for a moment. Why was she in the Bronze, wanting to be alone? Hell if anything she should be celebrating. She’d gotten rid of a family that was, lets face it, a bunch of evil bastards, found out that she wasn’t a demon…and wasn’t it her birthday n’all? I did not understand women, that’s for bloody sure.
“Sure thing Glinda,” I said walking past her and reaching down to the coin slot of the pool table. With a quick tug I wrenched it free, making the games free for us tonight. Kinda had to really…I didn’t have a penny to my bloody name. “I’ll give you a game.” Anything to take my mind of…that thing I wasn’t going to think about.
I started to arrange the balls on the table.
“So wasn’t there supposed to be a party here tonight?” I asked.
He agreed to a game and before I could give him my quarters he ripped the slot off, making me jump as a few of the quarters that were in there fell to the floor.
“I’ll give you a game.”
Running my fingers through my hair I sighed and watched as he set up the next set for us. I headed over and picked up a new stick and brought it over to Spike. "Here." Licking my lips I picked up the chalk and started to chalk up my cue.
“So wasn’t there supposed to be a party here tonight?”
Blushing I nodded, tucking my hair behind my ear and letting him make the first break. "Yeah...I...I didn't come. I...I." Sighing I leaned on the nearest table and took a drink from my soda. "Couldn't face them...I...I'm not sure wh-where to go from here and..." I'm babbling and I feel stupid now. I don't talk this much.
"Yeah...I...I didn't come. I...I… Couldn't face them...I...I'm not sure wh-where to go from here and..."
“Hmm, isn’t that interesting”
She looked up shyly and I caught the look in her eyes. She was definitely on a downer right now. God only knew why and hey, it was non of my business, what did I care if Red’s girlfriend was going through some kind of…bloody crisis…who cares if she looked like she was about to cry and…oh for fucks…
“What’s up, love?” I asked as gently as I could muster, leaning against the table and waiting for her to take her turn. “Far as I can see you’ve got it made from here on out. Know who you are now, right? Do whatever the hell you want.”
Ahh, now I see…maybe she was, maybe Red wasn’t what she wanted after all, now that she could have anything that is. This was starting to get interesting.
I watched him as he looked at me, making me look away before I turned back to watch him take his shot. I felt comfortable being around Spike, it was strange. Maybe it was because he was the one that helped me, or maybe because I didn't know him that well. I knew I had wanted to be alone before but even still feeling like that I didn't mind him here. Guess that's why I didn't ask him to leave.
“What’s up, love? Far as I can see you’ve got it made from here on out. Know who you are now, right? Do whatever the hell you want.”
He was right about that, in a way. I know I'm not a demon but I don't know what I want to do now. Everything's confusing and strange, raw and new. I just wish I had some direction now.
"Don't know what I want." Bending over the table I took my shot, sinking the six ball in the side pocket. Quietly I moved around the table to take my next shot and not surprisingly I missed. "Just feel lost."
Her and me both…well, I mean, I didn’t feel lost but, hell maybe I did, I mean it wasn’t as if it was normal for me to be having dreams about…having the dreams I was having was it? Plus I couldn’t hunt, couldn’t bite, couldn’t bloody eat unless it came from a bag or a cup. Lost? Yeah, I knew all about that.
“Why all of a sudden, love?” I asked taking my shot and sinking the eight in the corner pocket. “As far as I can figure the only things you lost was a family full of bastard rednecks and the idea that you might not be entirely human, which I s’pose to you is a good thing.” I took another shot and sunk another ball.
“Shouldn’t you be happily celebrating with Red and the scoobies? They all seemed pretty chuffed that it all worked out.” I grinned. “Or was it just for show, they still angry about that bit of mojo you put on them?”
I reached for my bottle and took a sip. “That was nice, that was…real creative.”
“Why all of a sudden, love? As far as I can figure the only things you lost was a family full of bastard rednecks and the idea that you might not be entirely human, which I s’pose to you is a good thing.”
Spike was right at what he was saying, I knew it but it just all felt off. Nothing felt right and I wasn't sure exactly how to put it. "Lost who I was." I whispered, looking down at my lap and fiddling with the hem of my skirt.
“Shouldn’t you be happily celebrating with Red and the scoobies? They all seemed pretty chuffed that it all worked out. Or was it just for show, they still angry about that bit of mojo you put on them?”
"I haven't...I haven't seen them. I don't...I don't know what's next from here. Decided to spend time alone..." I shifted awkwardly and tucked my hair behind my ear, looking back down at my lap. "Nothing...nothing feels right."
“That was nice, that was…real creative.”"It was foolish." I murmured bitterly, sitting on the stool near the pool table and watching as Spike took yet another shot. I shouldn't be
( ... )
“Calm down, love,” I said taking another shot. “We all make mistakes. Done some stupid stuff myself when I was feeling…well you know.”
Why the hell was I telling her this? I mean, for one, what did I care? Yeah she was all right, probably liked her more than the rest of them and yeah, she looked down but I was still evil, chip or no chip, and I didn’t give a toss.
“Cheer up,” I suggested, taking another shot and missing the corner pocket. “Look, I missed it’s your turn now.”
I grabbed my bottle and sat down to watch her take her shot. Every time I stopped talking or stopped doing things though, my mind wandered and I started thinking about the dreams again. God, if only there was some way that I could just get rid of them, or the memory of them or…hey…
“Calm down, love...We all make mistakes. Done some stupid stuff myself when I was feeling…well you know.”
I listened as he spoke, my hands wrapped around the stick as I leaned my head against the side of it. I wondered why he was telling me all this, he was being more then just Spike he was being nice to me. It just felt strange.
“Cheer up...Look, I missed it’s your turn now.”
He made me smile inspite of my mood. "You did that intentionally." I smiled and stood up, chalking my cue and taking a shot at the ten ball, sinking it into the side pocket before walking over and reaching over the table to try and make another shot.
“So, you sworn off magic for good now, or…?”
Turning my head to him I looked at him questionably. "Umm no, why do you ask?" He shrugged and I took my shot, missing and walking back to the table and picking up my soda again. "I'm just...going to be more cautious from now on."
“No I bloody didn’t,” I muttered, annoyed. I bloody didn’t. Really… Anyway, she could think what she wanted if it made her happy, I was going to win anyway.
"Umm no, why do you ask? I'm just...going to be more cautious from now on."
That didn’t sound like a good thing, and it definitely didn’t sound like fun, but that was her problem if I could just get her to see it from my point of view. I didn’t want to hurt anyone, I just wanted to get rid of these bloody dreams so I could get back to normal; hating the Slayer and wanting to kill her. Of course that’d be even more frustrating because I couldn’t kill her…maybe I should just stick with wanting to fuck her.
Oh for fucks sake, I just…
“So if a bloke was having…unwanted dreams,” I blurted out. “You could get rid of them with magic, yeah?”
How was I going to get her to do this without telling her what the problem was?
He got quiet and I felt myself blush, wondering if he was watching me every time I bent over the pool table. It made me uncomfortable but I knew that because of the chip he couldn't do anything if I didn't want it, which I didn't.
“So if a bloke was having…unwanted dreams...You could get rid of them with magic, yeah?”
I stopped what I was doing and looked at him, trying to meet his eyes but he kept darting them away from me. He was hiding something and that wasn't the total truth of his question. "W-well..." I brushed my hair from my face and looked over at him. "Depends, some...some things you really s-shouldn't supress..."
He looked wounded and frustrated for a moment and I quickly amended my words. "It...it just depends, but... in theory...it can be done." I looked over at him and waited till he looked at me. "Why?"
