Here are my interview questions from Jenn! Comment and I'll as you your own 5.
1. Who are your grandparents? What are their names, where are they from, and what are they like?
My grandparents are Sylvia and Richard Dischler. My grandmother is very petite. She was an only child raised by two teachers who had her late in life. She was a daddy's girl, but was very close to her mother. She is smart and fairly sassy. She likes to eat the wings of chicken, paints her toenails the same colour (has been for 50 years) once a week, and owns a ton of shoes that she bought for outfits, wore once, but can't throw them away because they were expensive. She's well-read, well-spoken and acerbic. My grandfather is pretty much like Hank Hill. He hates it when guys wear shorts, he likes to mow the lawn, and he watches baseball on TV all summer. He can't cook for himself, he likes to keep his truck clean and he gets coffee at the truck stop every morning. He's got a pretty spiky exterior, but he's a teddy bear. He used to make up songs all the time, that we still have no idea what they mean, but we still sing them.
2. Who are you out of the following iterations:
Of the Little Women, are you a Meg, Jo, Beth, or Amy?
I would say that I am probably Jo. That is probably cliche, but Meg is too responsible, Beth is too sweet and Amy is too prissy.
Of the Bennet sisters in Pride and Prejudice, are you a Jane, Elizabeth, Mary, Kitty, or Lydia?
This is tough because it has been a long time. I am going to say Jane, or a post-eloping Kitty. I say Jane because she is very worried about her mother and sisters all the time. I worry about my friends and my mom all the time, making them happy, being a good friend/daughter. Kitty is a bit more shallow and likes to play around a bit, so I would say maybe a mix?
Of the Hogwarts houses, are you a Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, Slytherin, or Gryffindor?
and WHY?
Goodness. Hufflepuff. I am sweeter than Ravenclaw, not sneaky like Slytherin, and not as brave and gallant as Gryffindor. THOUGH I did take one of those quizzes and it said I was Gryffindor. So... yeah.
3. How and where do you want to raise kids? If that question is too close for comfort, how did you come to name your cat Olive?
This is tough. I am sort of not wanting to raise my kids in the states. I think I would prefer4 to raise them in Europe where there is not so much emphasis on pop culture, money and work. Though, even with my liberal arts education, I recognise that when it comes to health care and being taken care of, America is really the way to go. I don't want my kids to watch TV, not stupid TV anyway. I don't want them to have TVs in their rooms, ever, or video game consoles unless they are in the main living area where I can watch them. If they have to be alone after school, I will probably take it, put it in my room, and lock the door. I am undecided whether or not I want to raise them in a church. If I do, I think I will raise them in the Episcopal church because it is familiar to me, but more liberal and open-minded than the Catholic church. It's hard because I am a religious studies major. I never want my children to think their faith is superior. If I had a child that wanted to convert to Mormonism or started going to an evangelical church with friends, I think I would be mortified. That being said, I think religion helps to teach right and wrong as a parent. Greg and I really want to be involved with our kids and want to make sure we are there for homework time and all that. I really hope I am a good mom like mine was (and is).
As for Olive, we didn't name her. The people that had her for a month before we did (Brian and Rachel from the tattoo studio) named her. We kept it because we love food.
4. What was your favorite grade year in elementary school?
I loved third grade. My teacher had a baby, so we had a substitute all year who ended up being the best teacher I ever had. She instituted an hour in every day where we had creative writing. We would sit arouund and write stories and then we read them out loud to the class at the end. I discovered that I loved to write, which made sense because I loved to read. I wanted to be a writer forever after that. It turned in to journalism, which got squashed by a horrible teacher when I was in high school. I still like to write today, though I don't do it as often and I am convinced I'm not as good as I used to be.
5. (I'm asking it again again): Where is your favorite place to eat in Fort Collins?
in frequency it would be either Armadillo or Inca. In total preference it would probably be Suehiro because I LOVE their Buddha rolls. This is hard, I am a foodie. It really just depends on what I'm hungry for at the moment.
