India Basin

Here are a couple of videos and some pics from another visit to India Basin Open Space on Sunday.

Abandoned junk in the empty lot next to the open space, some of which has seen better days.





Gumplant, and its sticky gummy buds.





Crude oil tanker Polar Explorer rides at anchor in San Francisco Bay.

A great blue heron sits in the salt marsh looking for prey.



Grumpy blue heron.



Wild mustard plants make lacy shadows on the trail.



This western fence lizard is shedding its skin.

A sailboat on the bay.



A black phoebe has caught a grub in the salt marsh.



A Crowley tugboat on the bay.



A western gull on the bay.



Brown pelicans circle over the basin before landing to preen.







A sea roach crawls around on the rocks at the shore looking for decaying seaweed and dead critters to scavenge.  Sea roaches live on land but breathe through gills.
