Calabazas Creek
Here are a few pics from Monday's visit to Calabazas Creek.
A ladybug perches on the side of my car. Did it ride all the way to the trailhead like that?
Calabazas Creek Trail.
Flowers in bloom (and 12-foot-tall grasses as well, but too high to photograph effectively with my dinky camera).
Milk thistle in bloom.
Large puddles / small pools on the trail, leftover from earlier this spring when torrential rains made the creek rise significantly.
This pool hosts a school of tiny fish.
I'm fairly certain this is an acute bladder snail (Physa acuta), one of several sharing the pool with the fish.
Vivid dancer damselfly perches at the edge of the pool.
Short videos of the tiny fish, one a little shaky, the other steady.

Short video of the snails. How many do you see moving around in the water?
