St Mary's Cathedral
Here are some pics from Monday's visit to
St. Mary's Cathedral in San Francisco.
Car break-ins are rampant in San Francisco, even near a church.
A glimpse of the cathedral's cupola (which I used to think was pronounced cup-OH-la, rather than KYOO-po-la).
Looking southeast from the plaza in front of the cathedral.
Two views of the interior.
The stained glass windows go all the way up to the top of the cupola.
Votive candles.
Some of the sculptures inside.
A close-up of some of the stained glass windows.
What would be the cathedral's rose window is not circular, and it is only visible by going behind the pipe organ's riser, which seems odd.
Pew pew pew pew.
Another view of the city from the plaza.
A serpent poised at the entrance to a cathedral?
Another oddity.
