Babelfishing Poetry: "Luis, Luis, I Told You"
Hello! Lovely to see you, and woo-hoo, it's Friday already. Hooray! Let's kick off the holiday weekend with some more Babelfishing poetry, where I take song lyrics, run them through an on-line translator such as (but not necessarily) Babelfish, adjust the punctuation a bit, and wind up with a quirky kind of poem.
This week's feature, made infamous by The Kingsmen's
unintelligible version is "
Louie Louie" (listen to the Kingsmen play the song
here, or listen to the original by Richard Berry followed by versions by Rockin Robin Roberts and The Fabulous Wailers and then Little Bill and the BlueNotes
here, or listen to a Spanish version by Los Elegantes
here, or listen to a somnambulant Spanish-language version by the Sandpipers
here, or listen to an overwhelmingly bizarre avant garde version that sounds like a bunch of drunks got turned loose in a hardware store and tried to form a garage band using the merchandise lying about, by "
The Pink Chunk"
here). Enjoy.
Luis, Luis, I Told You
Please come with me,
bottle.
But I think I'm having myself.
Hamlet thunder special.
Dark payment without the sun.
I drink this.
This ship had a dream,
a feeling of self-esteem.
I can't see the lichen or the moon.
I said they were midnight twice,
but in condemnation of my visit,
it's ridiculous.
My theory, Lewis, Lewis: where am I going, but I am not good at it,
Holy Spirit, I swear.
Luis, Luis, I told you, just like me.
I said I don't want to go.
I started.
Did you finish?
