What I Saw Today
This evening coming back from our walk, D. and I saw about 4 or 5 plastic bags hanging off the fence of a yard a couple houses down the block. Closer inspection revealed the bags to be full of plums. They hadn't been there when we first went out on our walk. The people must have filled them from the fruit trees in their back yard. So we took a bag and said our thanks to our generous neighbors.
Lots of homes have fruit trees in the yard. There are oranges, lemons, grapefruits, cherries, plums, apricots, peaches, walnuts, apples, pomegranates, persimmons, figs, you name it; even a few date palms. There's so much that a lot of the fruit just falls off and rots on the ground. Sometimes the limbs get so heavy with ripening fruit they break right off the tree.
It was really nice for that family to go to the trouble to pick all that fruit and give it away to the neighborhood.
