Dish Loop

Dish Loop

On Sunday D. and I went to the Dish Loop (whose smooth paved trails I appreciated), and here are some of the pics I took.

The trail wends its way up through tinder-dry grasses.

A ground squirrel rests in some shade.

We did not see any mountain lions, coyotes or wild turkeys.  (I kind of wanted to chase a bold turkey in my wheelchair, but I guess that will have to wait until another time.)

Floof.

The Hoover Tower is visible on the main Stanford campus.

A hillside next to the trail is full of grazing goats.

All that dry grass is a catastrophic wildfire waiting to happen, so we are glad to see the goats chowing down on it all.

At the top of the ridge we see Big Dish, listening for extraterrestrial life in the cosmos.

Looking back the way we came.

A cryptic message chalked onto the trail.

Another ground squirrel enjoys a snack.

The parched hillside is full of long-dead non-native annual grasses.

A red-tailed hawk patrols over the grassland.
