Candlestick Point
On Saturday, after doing an errand in San Francisco, D. and I changed our original plans to visit Half Moon Bay afterwards because it was socked in with fog. So instead we went to
Candlestick Point State Recreation Area, in the southeast corner of the city. It was sunny and breezy and pleasant there, instead of gray and damp and cold like it was on the coast. Here are some of the pics I took.
A view along the shoreline.
A California gull at the water's edge.
One of the many jets taking off from nearby San Francisco International Airport.
A view of Sutro Tower on the horizon.
Another view of the rocky shoreline.
Wild radish, and sea lavender.
More shoreline.
Daisy, and fennel.
Butterfly weed.
The Bay Trail.
A great blue heron fishes at the water's edge.
Smiley graffiti.
A K-rail barrier sits abandoned in a field of dried grasses.
A Bell helicopter flies overhead.
