Long Ridge Open Space Preserve
On Saturday D. and I went to
Long Ridge Open Space Preserve and walked part of the Peters Creek Trail, and I took some pics before I got too tired and we had to come home.
Grassland habitat.
Star thistles are very owie to the touch.
Grassy hillsides and contraily skies.
The Peters Creek Trail goes through a woodland habitat.
A skipper butterfly sips nectar at a thistle.
We pass by remnants of an abandoned orchard, probably planted when this was private ranch land.
We see a pool in Peters Creek, full of fallen leaves and water striders.
A fallen bigleaf maple leaf is an emblem of autumn.
