Crissy Field

On Monday D. and I had an errand to do in San Francisco, and before we came home we took a walk along a trail at the restored Crissy Field Marsh at the edge of San Francisco Bay, and I took some pics.

The beach, with Alcatraz and a ferry boat in the background.

A peek at the lagoon, with exposed sand bars waiting for the rising tide to cover them up again.

The restored dunes, with the Golden Gate Bridge towers visible in the distance.

Golden yarrow, beach primrose, yellow sand verbena and pink sand verbena are some of the restored native plants growing in the dunes.

Beach primroses thrive in the sandy soil of the dunes.

Dogs have fun at the beach.

Another look at the Golden Gate Bridge from the dunes.

Seaside daisies and buckwheat (with bee).

Gulls, cormorants and egrets all enjoy the lagoon.

The boardwalk crosses the lagoon.

A gull looks for fish in the lagoon.
