Butano State Park
On Saturday D. and I wanted to go to
Pescadero Marsh Natural Preserve, but the coastal fog was too thick to make for a pleasant visit. We opted for our Plan B, the nearby
Butano State Park. Here are some of the pics I took.
Contour Map in the Visitor Center.
A stuffed owl in the Visitor Center says "Oh Hai."
Redwood sorrel.
Little Butano Creek Trail.
A fern frond catches a shaft of light in the forest.
One of many banana slugs we see along the trail.
The trail passes through a redwood-Douglas fir forest habitat.
A batch of newt eggs lies at the edge of Little Butano Creek.
All aboard the slug train.
Unidentified flower.
Bigleaf maples are beginning to turn color.
The forest canopy is quiet and peaceful.
State lifeguard cones are out of place in the forest.
We missed it. I am both relieved and disappointed.
