Ulistac Natural Area
On Saturday D. and I returned to
Ulistac Natural Area in Santa Clara, because it had been a couple of years since we'd been there and it was close by and had flat, easy trails. They have been expanding their native plant section since our last visit, and we also saw a couple of red-shouldered hawks (one of which had a band on its leg), a red-shafted flicker, some beautiful golden yellow foliage on the cottonwood trees, creamy white snowberries, buckwheat, bright red toyon berries, California wild rose, buckeyes, and earth star fungi looking like truffles on steroids. Here are some of the pics I took.
