Babelfishing Poetry: "A Long Time, A Sad"
Hello! Lovely to see you, thank you for stopping by, and wahoo, it's Friday again, hooray! And it's Babelfish day again too, where I take song lyrics, run them through an on-line translator such as (but not necessarily) Babelfish, have some fun with the punctuation, and wind up with a quirky kind of poem.
This week we look at what happens when we give this Tin Pan Alley standard from 1930 the Babelfish treatment: "
Happy Days Are Here Again" (watch video
here). Enjoy.
A Long Time, A Sad
A long time, a sad.
Go long.
Difficult times.
We finally get rid of you.
We leave.
Hello, I just laugh.
Hilarious.
Cloudy gray,
you are the thing
of the past.
Happy days
are here again.
Open space.
So cheers again,
sing. Then
happy days
are here again.
All together, I cried.
Now you can have no doubt.
So now let's talk about peace.
Happy days
are here again.
I lost my mind
with your problem.
Because it is over there
right now.
Happy days
are here again.
Open space.
So cheers again,
sing, then?
The best of times
is the happiest day
of Friday night,
happy day!
