i think the best way to experience art, poetry and music is in a community. The main purpose of art is to express first to the ones you love your need to create. It's strange to think that we are always vying towards the "invisible eye" of an entire society to value our art when it's only those around us, that we share our lives with in a community, that could fully conceptualize our art and its forms. I think creating art is in itself a human desire to "be god", to create beauty like we (regardless of whether we actually believe in god or not) have been told god does. And I think it's humanity's greatest desire to express to those that we are close to that we ourselves contain some aspect of god. It's strange to think that we admire so ardently the art of those we have not met, like van gogh or william carlos williams or mozart. While we can recognize the beauty in their work, we lack a deep spiritual and affectionate connection to their art--and this is perhaps why many of us "reject" art, give it baseless criticism, devalue its worth by either misunderstanding or failing to recognize its true artistic endeavor. The truth is, the only art I think any of us can fully appreciate is the art of our mothers, fathers, siblings, best friends, lovers. Because it's seeing those we know to be human (possessing human qualities) extend their reach towards god. It's a miracle to know people who are not afraid to flaunt their humility and twinkle so unmightily next to the overwhelming beauty of what has already been created.
I dont know, I just woke up and thought this.
