Am all sad because the men are here packing up our stuff for the long move home - all my book friends and china friends are gone, and they’re starting on the vintage. :( See how it’s affecting me? When do I ever use those little happy/sad face things? NEVER!
So to cheer myself up, here are some pics from the last couple of weeks. First, a new friend Jess and I had a 2.5-hour walk in Port Meadow (a huge meadow on the outskirts of Oxford, where cattle and horses graze and people walk dogs and fly kites and land-surf and owls nest and bunnies burrow. It's the coolest place) the other night. If either of us had any sense we’d be old friends by now, having been looking at each other in Bible study group for 18 months and thinking “I should get to know Chris/Jess better, we’re very similar.”

Jess showed me how to get into the ruins of Godstow Nunnery, where I’ve always wanted to go:
Old horses leisurely pacing home
Organised geese exiting the water in an orderly queue
The goose parade, in a line straight across the meadow.
Then on Saturday, Steve and I participated in Green Balloon Day, or Stick Everything You Don’t Want Outside And If You’re Lucky Some Sucker Will Take It Away Day. We got rid of a LOT of stuff. Including the ugliest rug in Christendom, which I hope someone will only use to line their garage floor. Then we went punting with Lloyd and Karina, which was lovely. Then we went to the last Oxford Antipodean picnic, then raced to the Oxford Tube to get into London by 7:30 to see Wicked. Yes Mum, it was awesome! Even Steve enjoyed it!

Then on Tuesday it was our eight-year wedding anniversary and we had a big walk in Port Meadow in the evening. Happy eight-year Oxonians:

And the obligatory Oxford shot to round it off:
It's hard to believe we're only here for another two weeks on Tuesday. I mean TWO WEEKS. That's crazy talk! My consolation is that there are very few things I haven't done here that I've wanted to. A few colleges unseen, and not enough evensong, but on the whole I've done this place to death. And very slowly, I'm starting to look forward to a few things about NZ. Like, S-L-O-O-O-W-L-Y.
