Two weeks in the life of an Oxonian lass

Jun 02, 2010 04:11

I haven't written in forever, mainly because there's so much to do in and around Oxford at the moment that I just haven't had time to sit and write everything down. So here's a small sample of the coolness that my life is at the moment;

Walking through the woods to the pub with friends:

Walking back though the woods after a great dinner:

Steve getting creative as I cycled home:

Walking to church through an almost-deserted city on Sunday morning:

Watching an epic waterfight through the arch of Hertford College:

All Souls as dignified as ever - no waterfights on that lawn...

Playing the tourist:

A trip up St Mary the Virgin, just cos I can:

Walking down St Aldates to have a picnic dinner in Christ Church meadow and seeing the evening light on Tom Tower:

The view during dinner:

Oxford's own icecream for dessert at G&D's on Little Clarendon St afterwards:

Evensong, alone in cool Magdalen Chapel in the heat of a summer evening:

The stunningly beautiful and ancient chapel stained-glass window:

Cycling to the pub:

Zoe hunting drinks:

Poor sun-addled Bunglanders who punted in, stripped, jumped in the filthy river, ran around, then sat down all tuckered out.

The debating chamber at the Oxford Union during the term's comedy debate ("This House maintains that Englishmen are funnier than Americans"):

Walking back down Magdalen St at 10:30pm:

Watching Summer Eights from the picnic tables of the Isis pub, with Mary, warden of The Kilns, after an epic walk along the river, Friday:

Tea in a 300 year-old house in a little village so tiny I didn't catch the name:

Cycling home down the Broad after hearing Richard Dawkins speak at the Union, Friday night:

In the Cotswolds on Saturday with friends. (Other friends, not the cows.)

More to come soon, promise!
