A day out in London

Mar 21, 2010 10:25

Today I met my friend Shelley in London and we had a lovely day exploring the Borough Food Market (so amazing), walking the South Bank of the Thames and mooching around Portobello Rd.

We were just walking over Westminster Bridge when I turned to her and said "I'm in London. LONDON. That's so weird!"

"I know!" she said. "I've been here for years and it still hits me!"

It is so strange that I can get on a bus in my hometown, listen to a podcast and a half and get off in Portobello Rd. It's such a privilege, such a delight, and I don't make half as much use of it as I should. Anyway, here are some pics

Big fat cheese:

Escaping octopus:

Bubbling raclette (I so wanted some, but it was £5 so I had Malaysian chicken curry standing up in the rain instead. I was standing up. Not the curry. It was dead.):

As were these (rain + hair + daytime = bad hair day):

Pastries:

Shelley walking down a Victorian tunnel:

A ridiculously amazing clothing shop decorated with maybe 600 antique Singer sewing machines:

And that's it because I'm exhausted and have to work a FULL EIGHT HOURS tomorrow. EIGHT. I know, it's barbaric.
