Maybe it's more like a dramedy....
I have been hugely amused by the American presidential race in the last couple of weeks. Obama’s choice of Jo Biden was a complete no-brainer, in a smart way; young black man with little foreign-policy experience chooses for running mate… old white man! With LOTS of foreign-policy experience! Quel surprise!
But then, then old John McC gets in on the act, and thinks “I’m an old white man… who can I choose who will get me more voters?” And he chooses… wait for it… a young woman! When I heard that on the radio on Sunday as I was driving to church I laughed out loud, slapped the steering wheel and said “Oh, the comedy!”
She’s married! She’s got kids! One of them is disabled! One is in the army! She’s… female! She’s… an American citizen! She’s the governor… of Alaska! Which has oil! She has everything she needs to be VP!
She also thinks that Obama’s policies are excellent, is under investigation for firing someone who was in a dispute with her brother-in-law, and is on record as saying that the Iraq war is all about oil… which, you know, is a real Republican platform. This is going to make for very interesting viewing over the next few months. I personally think that McCain just handed the presidency to Obama.
