This little smojab of mine.... I'm gonna get it flicker in a slow draft

Long time no see, oh digitalia maximus.

I have 2 (two) things today in content, and 3 amongst the scatter in context. Methodically placed to place together a feat. so magnetic it'll jedi-mind-trick the change right out of your pocket.

The former is that of a concern brought to my attn from the Great Zorn in an interview I read that was dictated moments before he played with Fred Frith, Bill Frisell, Wayne Horvitz and Mike Patton by the Jazz stage at the Rock Festival in Imola, 1991..

His main point was that everyone who listenned to his music, comming from any angle (there being two main ones, that of a fearful tension-based side, and that of an excited anticipated release-based side)had their own 'pet theory's' about his intention with having a drawn out boppy groove be rudely inturrupted by a 3/4 bar of 32nd note thrash beats with squelching sax, only to be jumped right back into the comfortable more conventional groove. [please see Naked City's Torture Garden for a prime example of this area of his work].

Now, the fearful side was had by the older generation, more adapt to cling or 'engage' in the groovey soulful boppy section, awaiting and building up a sense of tension for the assault waiting around the corner, who believe or conjur that these eratic or frantic sections are put there for a lack of better things to do. How naive.

The excited side is usually that of the younger generation who secretly wants the soulful groovey boppy section TO BE assaulted.. and await the masked avenger to jump around the corner and break up the happy time.

So this movement, or band, can be enjoyed by either side of the fence, and even be perceived quite drastically different due to the internal disposition created from this unconventional style of writing.

[Another good example of Zorns style is to write down 100 styles of music, then have them sequentially played 1 bar each within 1min.. just because]

If you're still reading this, and are slightly interested, I have composed a song called Pet Theory that [in my opinion] through the shapings of the riffs and rhythms, it dances from the area of conventionalism in our metal scene, to the more glam-rock, to just on the faultline of obscurity. I'd love to play this one really loud in your face.. Quantum Chiles will be on the 30th in Langley at a keg/trucks/hicks/mudhole/metal party.

MORE DETAILS AT http://www.myspace.com/quantumchiles ALSO SOME NEW SONGS

I'm also in the process of lyricising [is that a word??] it, so any thoughts or comments are welcome to the table.
