Holiday

So what am I going to do about this being sick nonsense?  Well, I have found a way to wrangle me a holiday.  The 'at-risk' students who attend my college (of which I am one,) have options to earn extra grant money for self-enrichment projects.  I enriched myself (and I didn't even put my hand down my pants once!) and subsequently earned a nice little check.  Nothing earth-shattering, mind you, just enough for husband and I to ride the train to Seattle, lounge about on Roger's couch for about a week, celebrate Dee's birthday and come home (hopefully) relaxed and refreshed.  I am looking forward to this very, very much.

In fact, I was looking in to the possibilities of bringing along a friend from here in Longview.  He sure could use a vacation.  Poor guy has been through a lot of the same things I was.  We both had very rough childhoods and I really think that we were meant to meet and share our experiences, and perhaps each make the other a little wiser in the process.  Well, he is in a rough living situation with someone who takes advantage of his good nature, and we were hoping to get him away from it all for a week and relax.  No dice.  His aunt is having a HUD housing inspection around the end of the month, and needs him to basically do all the work for her to make sure that her house is up to scratch and will pass inspection.  There is a lot more about this situation that is frustrating beyond comprehension, but I will leave it at that. I am still holding out hope that something will happen and he will be able to join us on our little jaunt.  But that's me, Optimist Prime.  ;-)

I really, really cannot wait until all the tests are over and the work is done and I can put this semester behind me.  It wasn't horrible, but it wasn't that great at the same time.  Lots of complications and things like that.  I am just really anxious for the sun to start shining again and for my classes to be a little more fun this semester.  I can hope!

Randomness:

*I bought a yo-yo yesterday.  I am having much, much more fun with it than ought to be allowed.

*My right pinky fingernail peeled off over the course of a month or so and now it is all flaky, bumpy and weird.  Not sure what to do about it, just wish that I could stop messing with it.  :P

*Just want to send a quick, cheap shout-out to the good folks at Ivar's Seafood Restaurants.  Their generosity will be helping me take my ragtag little family unit out to dinner when we are in Seattle for spring break.  Adidas, if you are listening, I love your trainers.  *smirk*  Just kidding!!

Peace and love everyone - I hope that your lives and loves are content.
