Life Update

I haven't done an entry in forever, so here's an update for those of you who are curious.

So not much and everything has been going on. LOL. I say that only because it seems that I'm always busy, but then when I take a step back and evaluate the progress I'm making, it doesn't seem like I'm getting very far. *sigh*

Andrew flew out to NYC a while ago and had an amazing interview there. The job was SO perfect for him, and we were both really disappointed when it didn't work out. They "went in a different direction," which translates as "we don't want to give you any feedback" in recruiter terminology. Anyway, Andrew's been slow getting back into the job search because not getting that job really made him upset about the whole thing. It was a major disappointment, but I know we'll get out there someday.

My dental work continues, and is actually almost finished up. For those of you who don't know, I had 2 root canals done about 10 years ago. They were done very poorly at the time and I learned last month that they needed to be redone. So I had the two root canals redone a couple of weeks ago. One of them went fine; the other ended up getting hugely infected and caused excruciating and debilitating pain. It took more than a week for me to completely recover and heal. Then on Thursday of last week, Andrew and I went up to Brentwood/Los Angeles so I could see a specialist. His job was to do a "crown lengthening" on the two teeth in question. This needed to be done because after having two root canals done on both teeth, there was very little tooth structure remaining for a crown. The lengthening process (without going into gory detail) basically means that the surgeon chisels at the jaw and manipulates the bone and tooth to allow for more actual tooth above the gumline. Ewww. This is all done under LOCAL anesthesia. Ack! I was very freaked out about this surgery, but everything turned out ok. The surgeon was extremely nice, and aside from some moderate discomfort, I'm doing just fine! I have a post-op appointment this Thursday. If everything goes well, I'll be able to eat food on my current "do not eat" list (i.e. chips, spicy food, food served at a hot temperature). Also, I'm hoping he removes the stupid bandage in my mouth because it makes me talk kind of funny. :-( So, I'm almost done with all of this dental stuff. Blah.

Our anniversary is coming up soon, OMG!! It's so crazy. I can't believe a year has almost gone by. Andrew and I are very excited about our trip. We're heading to Napa Valley for a couple of days of gourmet food and winetasting--my kind of vacation! Neither one of us has ever been, and we're both really looking forward to getting away from work for a couple of days. We're going to stay at our timeshare, so at least we don't have to pay for the hotel! We both really love wine, and I (especially) am looking forward to learning all about the process of winemaking and how to describe the different flavors and nuances of wine. It's going to be great! As for gift ideas, my hubby decided that we need to stick with the traditional theme, so that means I have to include "Paper" in my gift to him. I have a couple of really great ideas--it's just a time management thing. I hope I have enough time to pull it off.

Also...I love my husband so much! I know it's silly to mention, but we're so ridiculously in love that I just feel so lucky to have him. I apologize for the mushy here, but I guess I just want to say that even though my life isn't perfect right now (i.e. I'm not performing and we're not in NYC), I feel so lucky to have Andrew as my husband and partner through life.

Anyway, I guess that is all. Think good thoughts for Andrew and his job search and if you have any great advice for a Napa visit, please let me know!

That was longer than I thought it would be! Thanks for reading. :-)
