Happy New Year's!

Dec 31, 2008 10:54

1. What did you do in 2008 that you'd never done before?
I got married! Woot.

2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I'm not a fan of resolutions. I like goals, but I don't like my goals being dictated by a date. I make them whenever I want.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Ummm...yes! Andrew's cousin had a little boy, Hudson, on Samhain/Halloween.

4. Did anyone close to you die?
No, luckily.

5. What countries did you visit?
USA!

6. What would you like to have in 2009 that you lacked in 2008?
An apartment in NYC, extra cashflow, and a theatre gig. :-)

7. What date from 2008 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
June 7th (06-07-08!). The day I married my best friend and soulmate.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Getting married? LOL. Well, not the marriage part of it, really, but the wedding planning was pretty time-consuming and stressful. I think it was a huge accomplishment to have planned that whole shindig for a low budget of $9K.

9. What was your biggest failure?
Not getting to do any theatre. :-(

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
I fractured my rib!

11. What was the best thing you bought?
Ummm...stuff for the wedding and Andrew's iPhone.

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
I will echo wiccabuffy and say my mother, who has completely turned her life around with her new way of eating. She looks amazing.

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
All those Prop 8 supporters.

14. Where did most of your money go?
The wedding and honeymoon.....sigh....

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Getting married and starting out my new life with the hubby. Visiting NYC in February also cemented our desire to move there.

16. What song will always remind you of 2008?
Ergh....I dunno.

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
i. happier or sadder?

WAY, WAY happier.

ii. thinner or fatter?

Slightly fatter. :-( But only by like 5 pounds, so no biggie. :-)

iii. richer or poorer?

Ummm...making way more money, so you'd think richer, but we're still coping with major debt, so poorer.

18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Travel. Andrew and I were so inundated with wedding costs, that we were only able to take the honeymoon, which was great(!), but it would have been nice to take a few day/weekend trips.

19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Worry and stress about the wedding. All of my planning and stressing, and we still had SO MANY problems. I should have worried less, because really it didn't make much of a difference. LOL.

20. How did you spend the Holidays?
Spent Solstice and Hanukkah at home with my husband. We made lots of Jewish food on most of the nights, and we exchanged gifts. For Christmas: the Sunday beforehand we went to Andrew's grandma's place with that whole family; the day of we went to my grandpa's place with my whole family.

22. Did you fall in love in 2008?
I was already in love with Andrew, but I think I fell in love all over again on our wedding day.

23. How many one-night stands?
None.

24. What was your favorite TV program?
Heroes, until it started to suck recently.

25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
Yes, Sarah Palin.

26. What was the best book you read?
I just read The Tales of Beadle the Bard, and LOVED it, so I'm gonna say that.

27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
Spring Awakening. It was of the awesome.

28. What did you want and get?
The aforementioned Tales of Beadle the Bard, the special collector's edition. It is SO cool! OH, and also my wedding. :-)

29. What did you want and not get?
Travelling with the hubby. Jewelry. So sad.

30. What was your favorite film of this year?
Wall-E.

31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I remember it so well...like it was a day or two ago! LOL. I turned 29 and my wonderful husband took me to Disneyland. We had an awesome time!

32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Having more definite plans for NYC.

33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2008?
Well, with my new job I had to start wearing suits everyday. So I had to learn how to be ok with that. :-)

34. What kept you sane?
My husband and kitties....well, at least one of the kitties.... ;-)

35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
My favorite will always be NPH, but I also have a crush on Patrick Dempsey.

36. What political issue stirred you the most?
The Election and Prop 8.

37. Who did you miss?
Can't think of anyone.

38. Who was the best new person you met?
Brianna, my old co-worker. We like to get together and sip wine. :-)

39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2008:
Don't Sweat the Small Stuff...oh wait, I think that was a book....?

40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:

Can't think of one right now, but I'll edit later...

new year's meme
