I've gotta admit, though, that the concept of a lich that compulsively hordes junk--or has another relatively mundane disorder (mundane as opposed to, say, being undead*)--would make for an interesting story.
In other news, I'm still alive...
* - Come to think of it, a lich trying to advocate for the status of being undead (undeadness? undeadocity?) as being a documented disorder could make for an interesting story, too. Or the idea of undead status as a disability... "Do you have any documented disabilities that we should know about?" "Yes, I am a certified lich, so the ADA mandates that all heroes must stay at least 1000 feet away from my phylactery at all times."
