we (hubby and me) have been discussing getting a sat-nav. ive always been against them. ive always said theres nothing wrong with using an atlas book. my thoughts on sat-navs it that only the lazy rely on them and that the machine can and has given incorrect information to users in the past taking them completely off-course.

I was converted to sat-navs a few years ago. For two years running, the beloved and I had attended the Yorks Pagan Fed conference at some centre or other in an obscure street to one side of Leeds city centre. For two years running, we had ended up circling round and round the city centre, unable to work out just how to get out over the ring road. The second time, despite being less than two miles away, it took us over 90 minutes to get to the place! The third year, the beloved got a sat-nav. We set out from our hotel in Halifax and breezed in. There is something very comforting about driving through Leeds with directions such as "At the next roundabout, take the third exit and stay in the right lane... "
I do many gigs with my West Gallery group in obscure villages in Warwickshire and surrounding counties and am a stranger to the area since I live in Notts. Pre sat-nav, I used to get lost on a regular basis and would arrive stressed out, weeping and shaking at the very last minute. Now I have no problems.
