Rules for Elements (AKA Seeker)
Take the Minor Arcana cards from two or three Tarot decks and combine by shuffling well. The number of decks is dependent on how many players you have; use the larger number with more players.
Deal each player 7 cards to start. The rest of the cards go in a pile in the middle of the table, face down. You are attempting to make matches for your cards, but in elemental opposite pairs.
For example, if you have the Ace of Staves - an Air card - you are looking for an Ace of Pentacles or Coins - the Earth card - to make a pair. Similarly, Wands and Cups pair up, since they are Fire and Water. You would need matching “numbers” for your cards, such as the Two of Staves and the Two of Coins or the Page of Wands and the Page of Cups for a matching pair.
When you have a pair, lay them down face up on the table for all to see.
When your turn comes, if you do not have any matches in your hand you can ask other players if they have a specific match you are looking for. Say you have a Three of Cups in your hand. You would say of the player you ask from, “I seek a Three of Wands.”
If the person you ask does not have a Three of Wands in their hand, they simply say “Go forth and seek the Elements!” Draw a card from pile on the table (where the cards not yet dealt are) and see if you are lucky enough to get a match.
The first person to empty their hand of cards wins the game. Enjoy!
