So it's been a couple weeks. I figured it was best not to complain about shit while I was wading in it and hold off until something worthwhile to write on came about.
I got home on Saturday. Packing up was a bitch, lugging couches downstairs and throwing away garbage thats been sitting around for months. At least at Phi Tau I can store the excess in the basement so I don't have to deal with everything. All of that happened after five papers and fifty pages in four days--a record for me I think. Soon after I got back on Saturday I played some music with Zach and hit his fabulous new bong named Jai after he elaborated on the various artistic metaphysical properties of the thing. I then subsequently spent the majority of every day from then until now with him and Veronica, and with the frequency that he has been calling my house or I his for the purpose of arranging our days, I am almost certain my mother thinks we are hooking up--which is amusing. We started "Small Metal Buildings" up again and we've been writing a few new pieces. Hopefully we'll be able to get enough together to have a gig in the near future. So far it's been great to write music again, something I postponed due to my recent writing and directing preoccupations. Today we had a really nice canoe trip on the Croton river.
I'm happy to be home and away from work. My grades were good this semester, a 3.5 overall, but it feels like I worked half as much last year when I pulled a 3.8. I guess I'm just sick of working and enjoying doing creative stuff too much to care about anything else. My advisor in the English Dept. told me that school persistently gets in the way of the actual learning process that one undergoes, and I've been increasingly more inclined to believe that. I'm hoping for a good summer. I'm going to be making money, and hopefully writing a lot.
There's a lot of things that I'm trying to accomplish this summer...here's hoping...
