The middle pillar

Here, where twisted compassion slays itself in the web of articulations,
where history runs void upon faith-deafened ears,
A single pillar rises out of the darkness to call forth the warring ships from sea.

Here, where winding depths of despair reveal truth upon tounges of steel and hearts of lead,
where conviction floods blindly upon reaching hands,
A roaring voice gives way to silence so that the flames might quench themselves.
