Ok so I know we all go through our fluffy stages, and that we have to be patient with them so as not to break or hurt them (or even worse push them further it their fantasy world). Also, I wanted to add...

If these people are older than teens to mid-20's, that's a major red flag. That means these are expressions of a self-developed neurosis and these people would benefit a great deal from professional therapists.

Mental health is as important as emotional, spiritual, and physical. Unfortunately, there is a stigma in today's society about getting help for chemical imbalances, traumas, and other things that lead to mental issues. I often tell people "there is no shame or blame in seeking qualified help for emotional and especially mental disorders." In fact, to most adults, knowing their loved ones are getting the treatment they need is a relief.

If they are older, this whole situation seems to be symptomatic of a need to cover up or put aside a personal issue - a "Shadow" side. This may be the only way they are capable of dealing with it when other assistance is not made available. Manifesting it indefinately without intervention by themselves or from outside assistance can lead to such things as Disassociative Identity Disorder and Multiple Personality Disorder or schitzophrenia (sp), bi-polar, or manic depressive states.

At any rate, tread lightly and carry a big stick - information. Getting in the middle of it will solve nothing, only perpetuate it. Best wishes to all involved toward an amicable and healthy solution.

Yes, well I'm going to use my big stick as a fishing pole, to hopefully get the girl out of it. Their all in their late teens.

Although David (someone who lives near me) is in his mid-20's and still acts like that...

thanks for the insight! I'll be sure to be careful.
