I'll believe that the Harry Reid thing is no big deal as soon as Trent Lott gets his job back.

It's amazing how hypocritical the Dems are being over this, though. Harry Reid's flap is 1,000 times worse than Lott's, and yet Reid gets a free pass, and Lott was crucified. It's not surprising, the hypocrisy, but it's worth noting nonetheless.

I don't think what Reid said was objectionable enough to warrant having to resign, but I do think it's worse than what Lott said. The sole reason for demanding Lott leave the party leadership was of the comments he made - Democrats set the standard in an insane place, they should deal with it.

That's my thought, that the standard has been established, and so now it needs be measured out equally.

Maybe if both parties hadn't conspired to completely destroy the level of public discourse in the United States, they wouldn't have insane problems like this. Ultimately they all need to sleep in the bed they crapped in.

I think it is. I mean, certainly his voting record is to be considered, but the consideration that allows him is not so great as to allow him as free of a pass as he has gotten off of remarks that are awfully offensive. If anything, it almost balances out because of how much worse his statement was than Lott's.
